Why Frozen Cookie Dough Fundraising Works!

The Basics of Cookie Dough Fundraising:

Have you met many people who do not like the taste of a freshly baked cookie? Sure, there may be a flavor or two that people are not fond of, but given a choice of 10 or more flavors a person would be hard pressed not to find one they would enjoy. That’s why frozen cookie dough fundraising is so successful!
How Cookie Dough Fundraisers Work?

Cookie dough fundraisers are considered pre sell fundraisers. Pre sell fundraising means you use a colorful brochure as your selling tool, the brochures including photos and descriptions of the line of cookie dough your group selected. Your customer reviews the brochure, chooses the product they would like to buy, and pays you for their purchase. You write the information down on the order form and then continue to show the brochure to more people.

Most groups hold their cookie dough fundraiser over a two week time period. At the end of that period everyone totals up their order forms and reconciles it to the money they have collected. Next, everyone turns in their order forms and money to their fundraising coordinator. The coordinator tallies all the order forms and money together and then places a bulk order for all the cookie dough your group sold.

Three Basic Types of Cookie Dough Fundraisers:

Both of the frozen cookie dough programs work the same. The only difference is the how the product is packaged – preformed or tubs. Either product will be shipped to you on a truck packed in dry ice, or by a frozen freight carrier. It typically takes a minimum of two weeks to receive the cookie dough once your order has been placed.

Originally, frozen cookie dough was only available in tubs. Now however, you can purchase frozen cookie dough that is proportioned into 1 ounce cookies and packed in boxes. Although preformed cookie dough sells for a slightly higher price it is becoming quite popular because it is so simple to use.

The third type of cookie dough comes as a dry mix. This mix has an amazingly long shelf life. Unlike frozen cookie dough, the benefit of selling a dry mix is that you do not need to delivery the cookie dough the same day you receive it.

When To Hold Your Cookie Dough Fundraiser:

For some reason more groups sell cookie dough in the fall rather than the spring. One reason may be because fall is when schools and many sports groups resume. Therefore, by holding their fund raiser early in the season these groups can rely on a cookie dough fundraiser to get them off to a good start.

Groups that held their fundraisers early in the spring or early in the fall, and groups holding their fundraisers very late in either season reported the best fundraising results. With that information one conclusion is, most fundraising groups appear to be selling during the middle of each season. So the groups that sell the earliest and the latest are doing the best. Interestingly, the groups that sell late are seeing repeat sales from customers who purchased cookie dough from earlier fundraisers; these customers enjoyed the product so much they wanted to buy more.

Of the different pre sell options, cookie dough has certainly been one of the top fundraising ideas.
