IRA Distributions

In the past, Congress passed and the President signed a package of legislation which included a limited-time provision for qualified charitable contributions from Individual Retirement Accounts to charity. The provision expired December 31, 2009. There is, however, legislation pending that would reinstate this opportunity and make it retroactive to the beginning of 2010. While planned giving experts believe this will be the case, until there is legislative action, the ability to donate directly from an IRA to charity no longer exists. We will keep you informed of the outcome.
