The first Dr. F. H. McLeod Legacy Society Reception and Dinner
was held on January 17, 2008. At this year's event, 34 Charter
Members of the Legacy Society were honored for their commitment
to the future of McLeod Health.
Rob Colones, President and CEO of McLeod Health shared the
history of Dr. McLeod's legacy and explained how it still
directs the quest for excellence at McLeod Health. He also
thanked the membership for becoming a part of this legacy.
"We have four enduring values that direct our service to others.
The Value of Caring, the Value of the Person, the Value of
Quality, and the Value of Integrity. These are the very standards
that have served as the catalyst for growth and continue to
be the cornerstones of superlative care. I thank you all for
your service and contributions to McLeod. Your generosity
will perpetuate this legacy for many more years to come."
Beverly Hazelwood, Chairman of the McLeod Foundation Board
of Trustees, offered her thoughts on a developing culture
of philanthropy and explained that legacy gifts are the pinnacle
of giving.
Each member was presented with a replica of a statue, commissioned
by a local artist, of Dr. McLeod with a child. Dr. McLeod's
love of children and a tragic accident involving a young boy
were the inspiration for Florence's first hospital, which
has become McLeod Health.
This Society will be welcoming new members each year at
