McLeod Health Foundation, through the efforts of its Planned Gifts Development Committee, has formed the Professional Advisory Council (PAC) composed of local estate planners, financial planners, and business professionals. Michael G. Roberts, a shareholder in the statewide law firm of Turner, Padget, Graham & Laney, PA and a certified specialist in taxation, estate planning, and probate law, serves as chair of the PAC. "Those of us on the Planned Gifts Committee saw the need for a forum in which to gather local advisors for fellowship and education. The more informed we as advisors become, the better we can assist those clients who desire to benefit charitable organizations like the McLeod Health Foundation," Mr. Roberts said.

The Professional Advisory Council will work closely with McLeod's philanthropic planning consultant, James E. Connell, FAHP, CSA, to guide the future efforts of informing our community of the many personal and financial benefits of charitable gift strategies.

PAC members meet quarterly for lunch and a presentation on a topic of interest to the group. Recent presentations have covered the tax law changes including the IRA transfer options in the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and year-end charitable tax strategies.

PAC members are also available for presentations to community groups upon request.
