"How else can we guarantee that our generation, and those
to follow, will be able to enjoy TV with subjects of substance, yet devoid of
lengthy interruptions by crass commercials?" Members
of our HERITAGE SOCIETY are those who name the MPT's Foundation in their will,
trust, or other planned-gift vehicle. They represent MPT's future by helping ensure
that this station will serve the people of this region for generations to come
and by partnering with us in fulfilling our mission:
The HERITAGE SOCIETY was established in the spring of 1999 during Maryland Public Television's 30th anniversary year. MPT also includes in this Society those members who began supporting MPT in 1969 and remain active members today. If you've been supporting the station since its inception and haven't yet been recognized as a member of the Heritage Society, please let us know. HERITAGE SOCIETY Chair Bennard Perlman is a respected author, critic, artist and former professor and chair of the art department at the Community College of Baltimore City. Mr. Perlman began his relationship with public television in 1968 when he testified before the Maryland Legislature about the importance of creating a public television station for all Marylanders.
