ESTABLISH YOUR LEGACY THROUGH A PLANNED GIFT

In the last 100 years, Southern Connecticut State University has grown from a Normal School to a State Teacher's College, a State College to the University it is today. The generosity of our alumni and friends, particularly through planned gifts, has been key to much of that growth. These gifts have helped to create the programs and build the facilities necessary for our students' success. The continuation of this tradition will ensure Southern's financial strength and academic excellence for years to come.

SCSU GateThrough planned giving, you can craft the legacy you wish to leave your family, friends and favored charities. Our planned giving program enables you to: achieve your personal charitable giving objectives, support Southern in a way that is consistent with your particular interests, and potentially avoid estate taxes that would otherwise reduce the inheritance left to your heirs.

There are many ways to make a gift. A planned gift may be of any size, and either restricted for a particular purpose, or designated as unrestricted, with its use determined by the needs of the university. A planned gift may memorialize a relative or friend, or carry your name. Through your planned gift, you can establish an undergraduate scholarship or a graduate fellowship, endow a faculty chair, add to our library collection, support an academic program or add to an existing endowment. Each gift presents an opportunity to have a major impact on Southern's future.

The Foundation and University recognize that your charitable gift intentions are a personal matter and you may wish to keep them confidential. However, if you are willing to share them, we would like to acknowledge your generosity and recognize you as a member of the Heritage Society.

We believe that a college education is "the great equalizer" and Southern has provided many deserving students with the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally. If your experience with Southern has impacted your life in a positive way, we hope you will give serious consideration to the variety of planned giving options available to you. Your attorney can best advise you about the ways to provide for your beneficiaries and, at the same time, provide for Southern's future. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you or your advisor may have.
